Deferred Action

The U.S. government can its exercise its power not to deport or remove any alien from the U.S. Deferred action or acción deferida is a tool used by the U.S. government or any of its agencies, like U.S.CIS or ICE, in making a formal decision to delay the deportation or removal of an alien or a group of aliens from the U.S. The delay can be for a specified period of time or indefinite.

Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) was a deferred action program started by President Obama in 2012 to delay formal removal of unauthorized immigrants that arrived in the U.S. as children.
